How does the apprenticeship work?

You will be trained on the job for three years and go through a variety of tasks that prepare you for the bakery trade. The apprenticeship consists of two parts:

Vocational school, where you will gain knowledge about baking, and practical work in your training company. This combination allows you to put the theory to the test!

Good to know: Working hours are different in every workplace. Some bakeries put on the oven at 2 in the morning to bake fresh bread and buns for the day. As tough as that sounds, it does have a huge advantage: Since you are getting an early start, you will have the afternoon off to meet your friends or follow your hobbies.

You should be ...

It's great if you graduated from high school. But you can also become a baker without a degree. Just convince us of your enthusiasm and passion for the job!

What do you learn during the training?

Vocational school is dedicated to different fields of learning: food science, business administration, recipes or baking techniques. In addition, your subjects include German, English, community studies, economy and religion or ethics.

In your workplace you will learn to work with modern machinery, bake bread, cakes, buns and snacks and develop your own recipes. In addition, you will become an expert in food storage and hygiene measures.
